Red vented bulbul





  1. The red vented bulbul’s scientific name is Pycnonotus cafer. In Sri Lanka this bird is known as Konda Kurulla.

  2. The red vented bulbuls are about 20 cm long.

  3. This bird is a member of bulbul family of Pycnonoytus.

  4. This bird is very common in India, Sri Lanka east to Burma and southwestern China.

  5. It builds its nest in a big bush because its nest shod be 2-3 m [7-10 ft] above from the ground.

  6. Red vented bulbuls mainly eat fruits and petals of flowers.

  7. This bird mostly lives in open forests, cultivated lands and home gardens.

  8. The red vented bulbul’s make their nestlings in autumn.

  9. This bird’s eggs are dark pink.

  10. There are many kinds of bulbuls like Black Bulbul, Yellow Browed Bulbul, White Browed Bulbul, lack Crested Bulbul and the Sri Lanka yellow Eared Bulbul.
